Alfalfa was planted spring 2006 and roundup was applied in strips to suppress or kill bermudagrass, tall fescue, and other grasses.

This AlfaGraze 300RR was one year old. The pasture was grazed in mid April and both grass and legume has regrown to a stage almost ready to graze again.  Very little bermudagrass or tall fescue has encroached into the alfalfa strips.  In areas where the alfalfa stand is weak, grasses fill in quickly.

Images - May 10, 2007.  No grazing or haying.  Grass is taller than desired. Alfalfa is suffering from competition from grasses.

Image - May 10, 2007.  In some areas of the same field arrowleaf clover and hop clover came up in fall 2006 and are dense.  The thick stand of clover is due, in part, to the dry summer and close grazing during fall 2006.
