| Leaves: | Hair on both sheath and blade. |
| Flowers/ Inflorescence: |
Seed in 5- to 10-flowered spikelet in large open panicle. |
| Fruit: | Seed unit with lemma and palea attached, awn on lemma about 1½ -2 times length of seed. |
FOUND: |
Throughout the state, found in new fall-planted stands and thinning stands. |
CONTROL: |
Highly competitive with seedling alfalfa. Control in new fall-planted stands and in thinning stands with POAST PLUS or SELECT. |
