| Germination: | April-September. |
| Reproduction: | By seed, July-October. |
| Stems: | Erect, slender to 3 feet tall, green or red (female plants usually red). |
| Leaves: | Narrow ovate to lanceolate, glabrous (no hair or fuzz). |
| Flower/ Inflorescence: |
Terminal spike, simple to highly branched, male and female plants, very short bracts. |
| Fruit: | Seed reddish to black, less than 1/32 inch in diameter. |
FOUND: |
Central and eastern counties in spring planted alfalfa and in thinning stands. |
CONTROL: |
Can be controlled in newly spring planted alfalfa and thinning stands with BUTYRAC 200 and PURSUIT. PURSUIT resistant plants have been reported, so be aware of that. |
