| DESCRIPTION | |
| Germination: | May-July. |
| Reproduction: | Seed in fingerlike spikes, flowering July-October. |
| Stems: | Erect to spreading, branched, no hair, flattened, whitish-green near ground. |
| Leaves: | Blade mostly no hair, occasionally sparsely hairy; sheath compressed, margin and mouth hairy. |
| Fruit/ Inflorescence: |
Panicle with 1-10 finger-like branches, 2-9 fertile florets/spikelet. |
| Fruit: | Seed usually hulled, dark brown, sometimes whitish pericarp. |
FOUND: |
In central and eastern counties in new spring plantings. |
CONTROL: |
Use preplant application of BALAN or TREFLAN, or spray emerged seedlings with POAST PLUS or SELECT. Important to treat small seedlings (2 to 6 inches tall). |
